How it works

Between engagements

What happens to your pay, your time and the next engagement when an engagement ends. It is the first question anyone asks a two-person consultancy.

Pay

Your employment contract states a fixed monthly salary, in the contract's own words "regardless of utilisation at a client". The salary is the same whether you are at a client or not. There is no separate base rate, no bench rate and no percentage of what you bill.

Time

Time between engagements goes to two things: your development plan and the next engagement.

We set the development plan together when you start. Then we go over it roughly every six months: a bigger planning session once a year and a follow-up in between. It decides what you spend the time on: a certification, a tool you want to know properly, an area you want to move into. The plan is yours and doesn't have to follow whatever happens to be sellable right then.

The next engagement

Finding the next engagement is David's job, so you don't have to look yourself. David has worked in the industry for twenty years and built up a large network. We also work with the brokers who handle most consulting engagements in Stockholm, so we see most of the engagements that come up and you choose among them. You see the brief before we answer and can say no without it affecting anything.

What doesn't happen

Of course we want you back at a client, that is the job. But nobody counts the days, nobody brings up what you cost, and you don't have to take just anything to get out faster.

The history

Nobody here has been between engagements yet. The company started in January 2026 and there are two of us. That is why this is written down in the open, so you can hold us to it.

You don't need to be looking for a job to get in touch. An email is enough, and we take it from there.
